For most Americans, my home state is the setting for books, television shows and movies. It’s a place they visit to ski, or where that move to escape a pandemic. It is wild, remote, and unforgiving — part travel brochure, part myth.
But to those of us who call this place home, Montana is coded into our DNA. We cannot escape her. She is gravity.
