Every other year, the Montana Legislature meets for 90 days. The session is frenetic. It’s sometimes maddening. But it’s also a glorious exercise in how government functions.
Budgets are balanced. Democrats and Republicans work together and mostly get along. And when it’s all over, the Senators, Representatives and staff go back to our lives as citizens. Even in a tumultuous year, it always feels a little bit like Mr. Smith Goes to Helena.
It’s my honor to work here every other year. So here’s to the vending machine meals, spotty Internet, insomnia and sore feet. It’s time to do the work of governing Big Sky country once again.
