The big difference between working for Congress and working in state government is that things happen here. The tighter timelines, shorter sessions, and balanced budget requirements mean that there are no slow days. But on this last day to transmit bills that originated in your chamber to the other chamber, things are break neck.
I’m currently typing this while holding a quesadilla, hiding in an empty lactation suite, enjoying the 10-minutes that will be my meal break. Then, I’ll be right back it, sifting through the more than 100 bills we will vote on today.
Right now, I love it here. But ask me again at 2:00AM when I pour myself in to bed.
