What is your greatest professional ambition?
Have you told others about it or kept it to yourself?
The largest goal in my near-ish future is one that I had only discussed with my parents and my husband. It’s a lofty goal, but not unachievable. A reach from my present standing point, but not impossible. But I was still afraid to tell the people who might be able to help me achieve it for fear they would be discouraging.
Last week, I decided to share this goal with my boss and my boss’s boss. No one balked. Everyone was supportive. And I left wondering why I had felt so afraid in the first place.
So what are your professional and personal ambitions?
Write them down. Repeat them to yourself. Figure out who you need to share them with to push them forward. And here’s the kicker, confide in those people, even if you don’t feel ready. You owe yourself that bravery.
