Yesterday, a friend asked me what I was going to call this newsletter after I turn 40 next year. “Well, you won’t be in your 30s anymore, so it’ll need a new name.”
Once I finished sticking my tongue out at her, I explained that Thirtyish is any age between 29 and a Wal-Mart Greeter (which, incidentally, is a joke only people over 30 will understand).
Thirtyish is a state of being, when you’re still figuring life out but you’re mature enough to understand that life never gets figured out.
Plus, the Fortyish domain name isn’t available. (Of course, I checked, who wouldn’t check?!)
So Thirtyish for Life.
One Breakfast Thing // How good does that look? 🤤 Bon Appetit has 32 breakfast sandwiches that will make you wish it was 10:00 AM on a Saturday. Do not miss the falafel spiced tomatoes on toast.
One Weekend Thing // Are you feeling a little overwhelmed by the pressure to make plans? Me too. VICE offers this piece of advice: The key to enjoying your weekend is to only make two plans and enjoy the power of free time.
One Makeup Thing // I don’t wear a lot of lipstick (Hi, pandemic.), but Kathleen Barnes recommended this Gucci Rouge de Beaute in Call It a Day ( a lovely mauve nude), and I am in love. I have worn this lipstick every day, even with no other makeup. It is creamy, not sticky and looks great.
One Music Thing // I heard BYNX pop-music mash-ups via an Instagram story and they’re really good. The RHCP vs. Fleetwood Mac mash is a favorite. I also love Whitney Houston vs. Weezer. They’re guaranteed to perk up your afternoon.
One Last Thing // Come on, you know you’re lying…
