Spring cleaning continues in my house. Boxes of donations are headed out the door today. I’ve decided it’s time to clear the smaller sized clothes out of my closet. They probably won’t fit again, and most of them weren’t getting a ton of wear when they did fit. So hopefully, the jobseekers at the local shelter will be able to wear some of them for future interviews.
It feels nice to start cleaning them out of my closet. They were a daily reminder that I used to be two sizes smaller and that I’m not anymore. It feels good to embrace the reality that I will likely not be that size again, and that I don’t need to feel bad about it.
So let’s take a break. I have some fun articles in the mix today, so let’s get to them.
I need some books for summer. Just something that I can read on my patio or poolside (if the pool opens). Bustle has a list of books that is worth perusing. Also, I’m just starting Mergers & Acquisitions, a fun book about weddings and wedding culture.
This New York Times article on parasocial relationships is fascinating. The article explains why we often feel like we know influencers and celebrities even when we don’t. These types of ‘friendships’ are normal and quite common. So if you see me on the street or in an airport (it happens), feel free to say hi.
I own three of these inexpensive baseball caps for working out, doing outside chores, walking dogs, or just covering up second day hair. For under-$10, you can’t do better.
I’m pretty happy with my skincare routine right now, but even I can use a bit of advice. This NYMag article discusses practical skincare routines for women in their 30s. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you can learn something new and get a few suggestions for your medicine cabinet.
Stand up for yourself. Stand up for others.
