Last week, we adopted a sweet little puppy from a local rescue. Her name is Stella, and she is a fearless, curious, and happy girl. She is also defiant, destructive, and making the life of our five-year-old Mini Schnauzer a constant torment.

But when she curls up on my lap, I realize that Charles Schulz was right: Happiness is a warm puppy.

Now if only she’d stop biting poor Avery’s ears.
