I’ve written a memo, a motion, a case summary, and three blog related things this morning. I have no more words. They have all left me.
So let’s just take a rest, shall we?
One Music Thing // Remember a few weeks ago when I was listening to the Bridgerton soundtrack — and its string quarter renditions of pop music hits — on repeat? Well, I have expanded this playlist on Spotify so I can now listen to popular songs in orchestral covers for hours. Enjoy.
One Sports Thing // I don’t watch my soccer, but when England made it into the semi-finals of the Euro Cup, it felt like a good time to tune in.
In the final game, England and Italy went to penalty kicks to decide the victor. Marcus Ashford was brought in at the last moment to make a PK only to watch it clang off the post. England ultimately lost, and social media descended into cruel (often racist) commentary about his role in the loss. But in this low moment, his hometown, Manchester, stepped up to make sure he didn’t forget that he is still a hero to them and to thousands of children who aspire to play for England one day. Good for them.
One Shopping Thing // Food52 is quickly becoming my favorite store on the Internet. From cooking and kitchen stuff, to great gifts and housewares, I love it.
Just this week, I bought this non-alcoholic sparkling rose for a friend who just announced they’re having a baby. I also bought this great Calamondin tree a few weeks back. And I keep putting this Staub Perfect Pan in my cart, along with these bamboo measuring cups in the best neutral colors.
One Social Media Thing // TikTok is creating all kinds of viral products — and we are buying up their favorite mascaras and serums are record pace. So what makes a product go “TikTok viral” and what makes them fade from glory so quickly. Vox takes a look at the power of the TikTok age.
One Last Thing // Simple, effective. I like it.
