Sloane’s birthday is next week. School is starting. The days are shortening slightly. And I can’t believe summer is ending. For all my fall-loving girlies, no hate, but I needed a summer, and I feel like I just fell into the groove, balancing pool trips with workdays, and I’m sad it’s almost over. So let’s get this newsletter out the door so I can soak in a little sunshine this afternoon.
One // Listening In // I thought I was getting old. Suddenly, it felt like I couldn’t hear the TV anymore and I was constantly turning up the volume, only to be deafened when shows went from quiet chatter to action sequences. Luckily, it’s not just me. Streaming services handle their volume levels differently. The NYT explains the conundrum, what we can do solve it, and why we’ll all be watching TV with the captions on soon enough.
Two // Free the Bra // During the pandemic, I basically stopped wearing bras. When I went back to work, wearing the underwire felt like my ribs were being garroted. Luckily, this wire-free bra from True & Co. offers me some support, looks pretty, and is totally comfortable. Your mileage may vary if you have a larger bust, but for me at a 36 large B, it’s awesome.
Three // Easy as Pie // I had never heard of an Atlantic Beach Pie, but this North Carolina favorite is like key lime and lemon meringue had a baby. A Saltine-crusted, summer-loving baby. And I am intrigued.
Four // Pottery Wheel // Finding unique housewarming gifts can be a challenge. Food52 has a limited edition pottery collection, featuring this sweet garlic jar, that just screams “gift me.” Their site is like a well-curated shop that you visit when you need the right gift without breaking the bank.
Four // The Rush of It All // I never rushed a sorority so the glories of Bama Rush Tok are fascinating to me. It’s like a better version of reality TV. But since I’m not on Tik Tok (I’m 41, after all), Anne Helen Petersen has curated the highlights for my post-bedtime scrolling pleasure.
