See You Next Tuesday: Vol. II, No. Two
On living fully, giving up drinking, asking for a raise, and more.
Buffer Month continues. For those who missed last week’s post, I am using January as a bridge between 2023 and 2024. It’s a time to evaluate, tidy and plan. No rush into a resolution, no hurry to change every facet of my life. I’m serious about making some changes to how I operate in my daily life, and I want to make sure they last.
Last night, I took some time to clear out my digital clutter. And it was so cathartic to watch unwanted photos, notes, texts, e-mails, and other digital detritus fall away. It was a small thing that made a big impact on my overall mental health. I recommend doing it while you “watch” a movie or while you wait for your child at music class. It’s a great way to fill those in-between moments.
As I plan for 2024, I’m forced to reckon with the reasons why 2023 felt so awful. And in the quiet moments, it’s impossible to deny that working in politics is a big reason why last year was so heavy.
